Place safe test orders in one click and find out why a shipping or payment method is missing. No real payment is taken, and customers never see the test.
A shipping zone gets edited.
A payment plugin updates.
Free shipping quietly stops showing.
Nothing looks wrong in the dashboard, and the first sign is a confused email from a customer, or a day with no orders.
Checkout Test Lab lets you go through your own checkout the way a customer does, so you see the problem first.
Features
Everything lives under WooCommerce › Test Lab. There is nothing to set up first.
Pick a product, a customer address and what the payment should do. Press Start test checkout and you are in your real checkout, with a test payment method that only you can see.
Test checkout tabSee the shipping and payment methods a customer would get for a cart and an address, and the reason each hidden shipping method is hidden. No order is placed.
Test checkout tab › PreviewTwelve read-only checks find settings that stop people paying, such as guest checkout switched off or a country with no shipping. Each result explains the problem and links to the right settings page.
Checkout check tabEvery test order is marked and listed in one place. Delete them all with one click, or let the plugin remove them for you after a day, a week or a month.
Test orders tabHow it works
A product is picked for you. Change it, add more products, set the quantity or add a coupon. Then set the country, state and postcode of the customer.
Pick one of seven results, from a normal paid order to a refused payment or a full refund. You can also keep stock unchanged and turn order emails on or off.
Your checkout opens with a test payment method. Place the order and a result card shows the order status, what happened to stock and where the emails went.
Seven payment results
Check your order emails, stock, statuses and error messages for every case before a real customer meets them.
The happy path
Paid, and waiting for you to send it.
Paid and sent. Use it to test the order complete email.
Not paid yet
Waiting for payment, like a bank transfer.
The order is saved but not paid, like a customer who left during payment.
Something goes wrong
The payment is refused and the customer sees an error.
The order is cancelled straight away.
Paid, then fully refunded. Use it to test refund emails.
Preview
When a customer says there is no shipping option, you need to know why. Preview builds the same cart and address and shows every shipping method in the matched zone, with a plain reason next to each one that is hidden.
It also lists your payment methods and tells you when one is switched off, needs bank details, or is limited to certain shipping methods. When a payment method is hidden by code you cannot see, Preview says so honestly instead of guessing.

Safe by design
Testing should never put real orders or real customers at risk. These rules are part of the code, not settings you have to remember.
The test payment method shows only to a logged-in user who can manage WooCommerce, and only during a test that user started. Customers and visitors never see it.
A test ends after one order or 30 minutes, whichever comes first. You can also end it at any time from the top bar.
The plugin never completes, refunds or deletes an order it did not create.
Works with the Checkout block, the classic checkout shortcode and High-Performance Order Storage.
No tracking, no external requests and no account to create.
The plugin loads no scripts or styles for customers, so your shop stays as fast as it was.
Good to know
Honest limits, so you know exactly what a test proves.
It does not talk to real payment providers, so it cannot prove that a real card payment will go through.
Preview lists payment methods that are switched on, but it cannot test them. A payment plugin can still hide itself at checkout for its own reasons.
Test orders are real WooCommerce orders until you delete them, so they can show in reports. By default a daily cleanup removes them once they are a day old.
The product search offers simple products and variations. Subscriptions, bundles and other product types are not listed.
FAQ
Open WooCommerce › Test Lab, choose a product and what the payment should do, and press Start test checkout. You will see your normal checkout with a test payment method called "Test payment (no money moves)". Place the order and no money changes hands.
No. It appears only for a logged-in user who can manage WooCommerce, and only while a test that user started is running. The plugin checks this again when the order is placed.
Yes, both. It also works with High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS) switched on or off.
Use Preview. It shows each shipping method for your cart and address and the reason a method is hidden, such as a free-shipping minimum that was not met, a method switched off in its zone, or an address that matches no shipping zone.
Preview lists each payment method and says when it is switched off or limited to certain shipping methods. It cannot test payment methods themselves, so a method that is switched on may still hide itself for reasons only that payment plugin knows.
Test orders are real orders under your own account, so Processing and Completed test orders can appear in reports and Analytics until they are deleted. By default they are removed one day after your first test, and you can delete them at any time from the Test orders tab.
Starting a test replaces your own cart with the test cart. Your saved account addresses are not changed.
No. The plugin makes no external requests and has no tracking.
Checkout Test Lab is free and open source. Install it, run one test, and see your checkout the way your customers see it.
